Former FTSE 100 and Nasdaq CEO will bring huge experience, skills and nous.

We’re over the moon to announce that former Sage CEO Stephen Kelly will be joining our Board as a Non-Executive Director, with immediate effect.

Stephen’s appointment is testament to our road-map to expand our offering rapidly across the health service, freeing up NHS funds which can be redeployed into the frontline and better patient care.

Stephen, for those who don’t know him, is the former CEO of the FTSE 100’s only technology companies, Sage and Micro Focus, and is one of the world’s most respected tech leaders.

He says: “We are witnessing the dawn of a golden era during which health-tech will transform patient care, enabling health professionals and improving outcomes. The 4th industrial revolution will allow convergence of technologies including AI and big data to radically improve healthcare provision and ensure the best health professionals are available to support the growing need. I am excited that Locums Nest is already saving NHS Trusts millions of pounds to enhance front-line services with a positive impact for patients.

“It will also be a huge pleasure to work with Allen Swann again - a good friend and mentor throughout my career.”

Locum’s Nest Chairman, Allen Swann, says: “I am delighted to have Stephen join the Board. He brings immeasurable experience in both the building and running of successful IT companies with a winning culture. His passion for health-tech and AI will be crucial to our success.”

Stephen and Allen previously worked together at both Oracle and Chordiant.

The recent passing of Ian Bowles, Tribal Group PLC and Allocate Software former CEO, whose vision and determination to support the NHS was critical in the birth of Locum’s Nest, left a significant gap on the Board, Allen Swann says, “I am delighted Stephen chose to invest in Locum’s Nest as a further testament to Ian”.

He joins the company, founded by two former NHS Doctors Ahmed Shahrabani (CEO) and Nicholas Andreou (Managing Director), at a point of high growth. Ahmed says,“This is really significant for us. Stephen joins just as we expand further into the enterprise market and increase our global footprint, including leveraging the insights and knowledge from the UK to help national health systems in other countries to grow internationally”

Nicholas says “So far we’ve already matched more than 80,000 doctors to shifts, across dozens of NHS hospitals and over 100 GP Practices. We’ve helped to cover nearly a million hours treating  patients with emergency and chronic conditions and helped Trusts save time, money and improve outcomes. Savings for the NHS Trust are immediate - one NHS Trust saved over £3m in agency fees in months. Locum’s Nest’s vision is to save the NHS £1bn by 2025 and is on track.

“Stephen’s appointment just makes us bigger, better, stronger and more able to deliver our long-term vision.”
