The NHS Trusts of Mid and South Essex University Hospitals Group have appointed Locum’s Nest to help grow and improve the Staff Bank for doctors, ahead of the Trusts merging together to become a single organisation.

By introducing the Locum’s Nest app at Basildon, Mid Essex and Southend hospitals, it will become easier for doctors to find, fill and receive payment for Bank shifts. The doctors will have access to more opportunities and enhanced technical support. Demonstrating the Trusts’ commitment to becoming one team, working together to deliver excellent care for patients, the Trusts will benefit from having access to a shared pool of doctors, improved staffing levels and a significant agency cost saving.

Locum's Nest and the Trusts have hit the ground running with the planned launch scheduled at Mid Essex hospital for the end of this month.

Locum’s Nest co-founder Ahmed Shahrabani says, “This will deliver a revolution to the people and patients of these three hospitals. More shifts filled, more often and more efficiently. It’s a really big deal for them to appoint us. We think this is a step-change for the way the NHS staffing can work.”

“We are excited and looking forward to the benefits this new app will bring,” says Danny Hariram, Chief People and Organisational Development Director at Mid and South Essex University Hospitals Group. “Locum’s Nest provides us with the tools to create a collaborative medical Bank across our hospitals group and makes it easier for doctors to manage additional shifts, reducing our reliance on high cost agencies to fill Bank shifts.”

Dr Rebecca Martin, Deputy Medical Director, responsible officer at Mid Essex Hospitals, said: “Growing a robust collaborative medical bank is a priority for our group of hospitals to deliver safe care to our patients whilst reducing the use of high cost agencies. The Locum's Nest app will make it much easier for our doctors to book into vacant shifts and ensure our wards are well staffed. We look forward to this partnership and working with Locum's Nest to deliver a successful service."
